Weed treatment continues July and August

Thursday and Friday July 31st and Aug 1 and the week of August 4

The 2008 weed treatment continues in Lake Gaston.  Skip Wiegersma of Skip’s Aquatic Solutions, LLC has announced the following schedule for Thursday and Friday July 31st and Aug 1 and the week of August 4.

The areas to be treated are listed below. This year’s proposal calls for treating 1,919 acres of weeds. In total the proposed plan calls for 971 areas to be treated in Virginia and 948 acres in North Carolina.

Signs may not be posted if they are not needed. According to Wiegersma the chemical strength does not always reach the point where signs are needed.  The chemical strength needed in areas where it is not posted means there should be no harm to your grass. Wiegersma told the Observer that he is trying to limit the interruptions that lake front property owners endure because of the treatment.

Areas to be treated Thursday and Friday July 31st and Aug 1:

Little Stonehouse -Triton Point

Big Stonehouse

Song Bird areas

Peahill Creek

Woodland Hurst- Sledge Creek

Jimmies Creek

Areas to be treated the week of August 4th:

Hubquarter

Lyons

Gaston Heights

Six Pound

Jordon

Great Creek

Smith Creek
